The Greatest Generation
I’m sorry if this is a little off-topic, but I felt I had to share. A few days ago, I posted a great black and white photo from the ‘50’s of a crying boy that was submitted by Caroline on behalf of her grandfather, Sidney Kirschner. She sent me a note today to say that her grandfather was “baffled but excited” at the attention that his photo has received on the blog - as well as a link to a blog she’s curating with more of his photos. As a young man in World War II, Sidney traded a pack of smokes for a camera and started documenting his life. They are beautiful and compelling pictures - and I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did. His story is a reminder of why we call his “The Greatest Generation”.
Let’s baffle him a little more with our love and appreciation. If you’d like to share a note, you can send it to him here: http://picturesfromgrandpa.tumblr.com/ask
Thank you, Sidney!
